What is Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

Here at Outdoor Women’s Wellness we work with individuals with Pelvic Floor Dysfunction which can include people with pelvic pain, incontinence, and postpartum return to sport.
If you ever leak when you laugh, jump, run, or lift, then pelvic floor Physical Therapy could be for you! What about pain with sitting, or heaviness with standing? Maybe you just brought a tiny human into the world and you need some TLC and guidance for your recovery. We teach women about their anatomy, what roles the pelvic floor plays when it is functioning well, and how to move towards their goals for returning to the sports they love.
In a virtual setting, pelvic floor Physical Therapy involves a little bit of homework, talking about your concerns related to bowel, bladder, and sexual health, and then lots of education regarding healthy bowel and bladder habits. Usually we can help people improve their pain the first day, reduce their urinary frequency within 2 weeks, and increase their pelvic floor strength within 6 weeks! I can teach you how to properly do an effective pelvic floor lift, relax your pelvic floor, and engage your pelvic floor during high energy transfer activities like jumping, running, or lifting, all from the comfort of your home (or van, crag, or tent).
